Miss Katherine Ann Mitchell was selected as Bullock County’s Distinguished Young Woman 2012 at the local level held at Conecuh Springs Christian School.
The Magazine Club of Union Springs began its one hundred fifteenth year on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, with the opening meeting hosted by Mrs. Susan Anderson.
In November, La’Brandon Michael Milbry-Tyre will be playing the role of Truffaldino in Theatre Auburn University at Mongomery’s production of “The Servant of Two Masters” by Carlo Goldoni.

Union Springs new council members took oath of office last Monday. They are Novella Scott, Randy Priori, Mayor Durden Dean, Robin Kruger, Randy Hall and James Anderson.
Dr. H. S. Banton is an avid photographer and he does his job well. The Union Springs/Bullock County Tourism Council and the American National Bank want the public to be able to view sone on Vanton’s photography. It will be on display at the American National Bank.

Mrs. Bob Gray and daughter Joellen took a vacation with her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Baggett of Columbus, Ga. last week. They left early Sunday morning en route to Titusville, Fla. They toured the Space Center and from there motored to Disney World and enjoyed touring it. They ended their vacation with a visit to friends in Tampa, Fla. where they also enjoyed seeing the sights and returned home Thursday night.
Friends of Mrs. Jean Phelps will be interested in hearing that she was recently elected treasurer for 1971-72 of the Montgomery Hair Dressers and Cosmetology Association.

Harold Smith, who graduated from Union Springs High School with the class of ‘46, left a few days ago to begin his studies at A.P.I., Auburn.
There will be Communion Service at the Bethel Presbyterian Church Sunday evening at 7:00.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Paulk and Mrs. J. W. Gause have returned home after spending a delightful week-end in Birmingham, as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Childs.
Mr. and Mrs. James Von Seeburg and daughter of Montgomery were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Chappell, Jr.
Mrs. W. T. Cochran, Mrs. J. S. Cook, Mrs. J. K. Haygood, and Mrs. L. K. Andrews are spending two weeks in New York City and other places of interest enroute.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rainer will occupy one of the new apartments being modernized on E. Conecuh St. by Mrs. Mattie H. Wright about the first of November.

Many friends are glad to note that Mr. B. L. Perry is back at his duties as Postmaster, after a severe illness. He is still suffering with rheumatism, but is on the job.
Mr. Warren Hall has returned from Birmingham.
Miss Elizabeth Britt, of Eufaula, is the guest of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Comer.
