Recreation Director Courtney Woodfaulk cleaned out the City Pool with Henry Williams and other city workers. The pool will be open soon to the public.
Santa Claus is coming to Bullock County, Saturday, July 23, not to bring toys but to pick up toys. Judge Theresa Daniel is finalizing plans for a motorcycle ride to provide toys and monetary donations for the children of Bullock County Christmas 2011.

The Bullock County Historical Society has honored those who served in the armed forces by placing a wreath in front of the monument at the Bullock County Courthouse.
William Braswell Haynes, son of William and Lynn Braswell Haynes, was born May 31, 1996. He weighed 7 pounds. Proud grandparents are Jane Spear Baswell and John Sorrell Braswell of Union Springs and Fairlie Lane Haynes of Montgomery and the late Oliver Lynn Haynes, Jr. He is welcomed home by his three-year-old sister, Grace Gunter Haynes.

John Thompson left last week for Washington, D. C. where he will be employed by the Post Office Department this summer.
Billy Brabham and Renaldo Singleton attended the World 600 annual NASCAR race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 30 as guests of Retreading Equipment Company, Inc. of Charlotte. Bobby Allison won first place and bother, Donnie, came in second.
Susan Sweeney, Susan Clark, Lisa Hembree, and Trina Phillips left Sunday afternoon for Huntington College for a week of Majorette Camp. These four girls will be Bullock Memorial majorettes for the 1971-72 school year.
Mrs. Richard Chapman and Mrs. J.T. Ogletree entertained at a seated tea in honor of Miss Sandra Emfinger, bride-elect, on Tuesday of last week at 4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Ogletree.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Green spent last week in Atlanta and attended the parades and graduation exercises at G.M.A. Their son, Jerry, returned with them for the summer holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Green announce the birth of a daughter, in St. Margaret’s hospital in Montgomery, on June 3rd, whom they have named, Betty Mildred.
Jane Paulk has enjoyed a vacation with her parents in Sardis for the past two weeks. She will return to Alabama College, Montevallo, where she will resume her summer studies in summer school.
100 Years Ago - 1921
The hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Jinks was extended on Thursday night to five tables of bridge players, who enjoyed this popular past-time until a late hour when a refreshing repast was held.
Mr. J. Frank Cogdell, formerly with the American Bank, but now one of the state’s assistant examiners, spent Sunday with his parents at Inverness.
There will be union services Sunday night at the Presbyterian Church. Rev. W. T. Ellisor, of the Methodist Church, will deliver the sermon.
Mr. Winton M. Blount left Saturday afternoon for a business trip to Washington, D.C.
