Johnny Adams has announced he is a candidate for the office of Commissioner, District Two, Bullock County, Alabama.
Old Diz Nursery is now open three miles south on Highway 29. The nursery is owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Dismukes.
The Chunnenuggee Garden Club met at Bonnie Plant Farm. There were ‘shepherded’ through the plant farm operation by the most able Mr. Kyle Curington. Dina Mason was there with her camera and took several poses of them with the floral background.
50 Years Ago - 1971
Mrs. Joe M. Carner, Jr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Moore, Jr., recent brides, were complimented on Saturday morning at a coke party and miscellaneous shower. Hostesses for this delightful occasion were Misses Beverly Waters, Patsy Paulk, and Brenda Finlayson.
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Cameron arrived home late Saturday afternoon from a 15-day tour of Spain and Portugal. They made the flight on a 747 jet.
Marijean Parham has been named to the Dean’s List with a 2.95 out of a 3.00 system in the School of Architecture and Fine Arts. She is a piano major with an organ minor.
Mrs. Fred T. McLendon spent several days as guest of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peek of Dothan and enjoyed the beauty of the Azalea trails.
75 Years Ago - 1946
In addition to other recreational and social facilities provided for its employees, the Cowikee Mills has begun construction work on a swimming pool, on the block where their community house is located. The pool will be 35 by 70 feet in area, and a tennis court will also be constructed near the pool. Water for the pool will be furnished by the well recently bored on the mill premises, which is 1105 feet deep and affords a flow of 200 gallons of water per minute.
Friends of Gerald Bozeman regret to know that he is ill at his home on West Conecuh Street.
Mr. C. H. Norton, Jr., was the guest of friends at the U. of A. for the week-end and attended the Sigma Nu formal, on Saturday evening.
