The Tourism Council of Bullock County presented the 18th annual Bullock County Veterans Day Ceremony, November 11, 2011, at the Bullock County Career Technical Center.

All-day, Saturday, November 12, Henry Thrasher, his family, and friends were making old-fashioned sugar cane syrup.

A Student Incentive Festival was held on Nov. 10, 2011 on the football field at Bullock County High School. The event was held to reward students who have excelled on the basis of academics.

At the County Commission meeting held on Monday, November 14, 2011, Commissioner Ellis stated that the Fitzpatrick Grocery store would like to sell alcohol on Sundays.

25 Years Ago - 1996

Johnny Adams and Alonza Ellis were sworn in as county commissioners Tuesday morning. Adams began his six-year term and District Two Commissioner and Ellis begins his fourth term as District Four Commissioner.

In honor of National Poetry Day, Mrs. Faye Gaston performed poetry readings at Bullock Memorial School.

Dr. Dean Waters will speak and present his chalk art ministry at Faith Independent Methodist Church.

50 Years Ago - 1971

Mrs. Fred Cole was hostess to The Martha Ellis Society on Monday night at the First Baptist Church.

Bullock Memorial School is proud to announce that Susie Priori has been selected Senior High Student of the Month for November. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Priori of Union Springs, Alabama.

Bebe Barnett has been selected as Junior High Student of the month for November at Bullock Memorial School. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Hill Barnett of Fitzpatrick, Alabama.

The William Dudley Cantey, Jr. family of Bullock County was the District winner for the Farmers Home Administration Farm Family of the year.

75 Years Ago - 1946

Mr. J. F. Moore, Sr., opened an office this week adjoining the Commercial Hotel, in which to carry on his coal and insurance business. He has been temporarily located for several weeks in Anderson’s Hardware Store but is now settled in his new quarters.

Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Williams and Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Cameron spent a delightful week-end, the guests of Dr. and Mrs. L. E. Sorrell, in Birmingham. They attended the Alabama-Vanderbilt game and enjoyed a number of social affairs. Dr. and Mrs. Sorrell entertained at a breakfast in their honor on Sunday morning.

Miss Sara Sellers, of Nashville, Tenn., is spending several weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hosea Sellers.

Cadets Jerry and Eugene Green, of G. M. A., near Atlanta, Ga., spent last weekend with their parents here.

Mrs. Will Jim Faulk is the guest of Mrs. John Love, in Panama City Beach, Fla.

100 Years Ago - 1921

Miss Lois Hautman, of Dawson, Ga., arrived today to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with her sister, Mrs.Grady Crowe.

“At home by Christmas!” began to be the slogan of the foreign delegates to the Disarmament Conference, after Secretary Hughes’s bomb fell.

Rev. and Mrs. W.T. Foster and Rev. J. L. Marlow attended the Baptist State Convention in Troy last week.
