According to the astronomers, it is probable that a meteoric shower will be visible in this locality on or about June 28, perhaps a little earlier. This shower will likely radiate from a point near the end of the handle of the Big Dipper.
At the pretty suburban home of Mr. and Mrs. Jamie W. Rainer on the Peachburg Road, last Friday evening, a barbecue was tendered Mr. and Mrs. J. Marbury Rainer. The guests who were limited to the Rainer and Feagin families, and numbering fifty or more, assembled at seven o’clock in the beautiful Oak Grove in front of the home, and at the appointed hour partook of the savory meats and accessories. Several large gas lights were used to light the tables, and baskets of brown-eyed Susana were placed at intervals.
Mr. M. W. Hall, of James, was in the city on business last Saturday.
