Miss Xan Forrer, Danny and Campbell Forrer of the University of Alabama, Messrs. Drew and Al Barnett, and Mr. Bill Moore of the University of Auburn are spending vacation at their respective homes.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Welk and sons Ronnie and Blair and their daughter, Mrs. Arthur Hartley of Birmingham left Tuesday from Montgomery to board a 747 jet out of New York to Paris, France. They will tour England and European countries for three weeks.

Mr. Sam Cohn is vacationing in Miami Beach, Fla.

75 Years Ago - 1946

Miss Virginia Caylor has arrived from the University of Alabama and will spend the summer months at home. She has accepted a position in the office of Moseley and McIlwain.

We have more ice and better ice since installing new machinery at our plant. Phelps & Gwin Ice Company.

Mr. Curtis Holmes returned this week from St. Margaret’s hospital in Montgomery, having undergone an operation there two weeks ago.

George May, Jr., will leave Saturday for Gulfport, Miss. where he will spend several weeks at Gulfport Military Academy.

100 Years Ago - 1921

According to the astronomers, it is probable that a meteoric shower will be visible in this locality on or about June 28, perhaps a little earlier. This shower will likely radiate from a point near the end of the handle of the Big Dipper.

At the pretty suburban home of Mr. and Mrs. Jamie W. Rainer on the Peachburg Road, last Friday evening, a barbecue was tendered Mr. and Mrs. J. Marbury Rainer. The guests who were limited to the Rainer and Feagin families, and numbering fifty or more, assembled at seven o’clock in the beautiful Oak Grove in front of the home, and at the appointed hour partook of the savory meats and accessories. Several large gas lights were used to light the tables, and baskets of brown-eyed Susana were placed at intervals.

Mr. M. W. Hall, of James, was in the city on business last Saturday.
