Local Attorney Nathan Dickson of Jinks, Crow, and Dickson, P.C. in Union Springs was recently admitted to practice law in the State of New York. Nathan has been practicing in Union Springs since 2005, representing consumers, accident and injury victims, farmers, and local businesses in all types of litigation.
Two women who were missing from Union Springs were located in Panama City Beach, Florida. Eular Glaze, 79, and Tinnie Glaze, 77, left their homes Sunday afternoon, September 9, 2012, around 4:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. Reports say both women have dementia.
In its regular meeting Tuesday, the Bullock County Development Authority elected new officers for the coming year. LaDerrick Caldwell was elected chairman, and the vice-chairman will be Dr. Maria Bernardo. David Padgett will continue to serve as treasurer and Thomas Main as secretary.
Mr. and Mrs. Greg McGhee of Wetumpka, Alabama, announced the engagement of their daughter, Linda Elizabeth, to Perry Lee Hall of Union Springs, Alabama. The wedding will take place on October 6, 2012, at the Old House at Meriwether in Lapine, Alabama.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald McGrady and Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Sims of Union Springs announce the engagement of their daughter, Sallie Anne Sims, to Nicholas Heth Wooten, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Wooten of Opelika, Alabama.
Mrs. Ruth Sisson Reeder was honored by her co-workers with a retirement tea on August 27, 1997, at the Bullock County Health Department. Mayor Durden Dean presented Mrs. Reeder with a proclamation commending her for her 22 years of service and declaring August 27, 1997, Ruth Reeder Day in Union Springs.
Three persons have been charged in an attempt to rob a Midway grocery. The Bullock County Sheriff’s office took three men into custody last Wednesday afternoon, Sep. 3, and charged all three with robbery, according to Deputy Gary Smith.
Tyler Watts, a quarterback for the Pelham High School Panthers, announced his verbal commitment to play college football at the University of Alabama. The outstanding senior had considered several major colleges, including the University of Alabama, Auburn University, University of Florida, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Penn State.

Marion, Al. – William Charles Cook, son of Mrs. A. F. Cook, Union Springs, has been named commander of Headquarters II Company at Marian Institute for the coming school year. Captain Cook has been a member of the Swamp Foxes, the Stage Band, the Brigadiers, Chorus, Morgan's Raiders, the Officer’s Club, and the Orange and Black during his three years at Marion Institute. He is a sophomore in the college department.
The 1973 Chevrolet Line will be on display at Carroll-Boseman Motor Company, Inc., next Thursday, Sept. 21, Mr. Gerald Bozeman announced today. The three new cars include the Monte Carlo, the all new Chevelle, and a completely restyled line of pick-up trucks.
Mr. and Mrs. Cannon of Inverness, Alabama, announce the engagement of their daughter, Delia Lucille, to Dennis Wayne Hall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wade H. Hall of Union Springs, Alabama.
Mr. and Mrs. Harris Huey announced the birth of a baby girl born August 22, 1972, at Lee County Hospital, Opelika, Alabama, whom they have named Heather Louise.

The Model Garden Club of Union Springs is sponsoring a county-wide Baby Contest in the High School Auditorium Tuesday night, September 23, at 7:00 o’clock.
Union Springs played Eufaula last Sunday in a 3-3 tie for eleven hard played innings. At the end of the eleventh inning, the game was called because of darkness. Jack Creswell, pitching for Union Springs, held the Eufaula team to 4 hits, while the local boys collected 9 off Smith and Griffin of Eufaula.
Miss Catherine Adele Murphy became the bride of John Frank Moore, Jr., in a ceremony performed at 4:30 Wednesday, September 10th, at the Parish House of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Birmingham, by Father Francis Foley.

Mr. F. G. Ramsey announces that M. Farrar Bond, of Athens, Georgia, teacher of history, a war worker, and musician, is highly recommended to join the faculty at the Public School next year.

The young men of the town of Midway gave a very enjoyable barbeque at the swimming pool Friday night, which was much enjoyed by all who were present.
Dr. W. E. Hinds declares that weevils should be killed in the fall as far as possible by plowing under the stalks the next day after the last boll is picked. Also, cover-crops can be put in to best advantage at this time.
