The Conecuh Springs Christian Eagles varsity baseball team opened the 2021 season with a mercy-rule shortened 14-1 win over ACAA competitor Victory-Millbrook on Thursday, March 4, 2021, in Millbrook.

Conecuh Springs took advantage of Victory’s pitching control problems early, easing out to a 7-0 first-inning lead with walks, a costly Victory error in the outfield, and a pair of two-run doubles by Lott Putnam and Miguel Gudino.

The Eagles jumped ahead and never looked back. Conecuh Springs moves to 1-0 on the season. Victory falls to 0-1. Defensively, Conecuh Springs was led by starting pitcher Lott Putnam (1-0).

The sophomore right-hander fanned 13 Victory hitters against one walk while scattering three Victory hits.

Putnam pitched the complete game five-inning contest.

Conecuh Springs baseball is in action again at home on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, when they host New Life Christian of Millbrook.

The first pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
