The Eagles of Conecuh Springs opened up their football season on the road this past Friday night as they visited the Patriots of Chilton Christian. After leading most of the game the Eagles ran out of gas with just under two minutes left in the contest and lost 32-23.
The Eagle offense depended on the air attack for a change as Cesar Bravo-Mota was held to a career-low 57 yards rushing. He did reach the end zone on a 40 yard TD reception to score the first points of the game. Lott Putnam threw the ball a career-high 29 times, completing 13 passes for 169 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions. On the receiving end of the other TD passes were Richard Santay (12 yards) and Kevin Padilla (18 yards).
The Eagle defense did a good job of keeping the Patriots in check for most of the evening. Only some missed tackles late in the contest allowed for some long touchdown plays for the Patriots. Leading the CSCS defense was Cesar Bravo-Mota with five solo tackles and one assist. Next up was Richard Santay with three solo tackles, three assists, and one interception. Also chipping in was Kevin Padilla with two solo tackles.
Next up for the Eagles is a home contest this coming Friday night, September 4, 2020, against Victory Christian. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
