Conecuh Springs Christian School opened its 2020-2021 basketball season Tuesday, November 10, 2020, with games against Chilton Christian Academy in Jemison, Alabama.

All four teams played in the season opener—varsity boys, varsity girls, JV girls, and JV boys.

Coach Kelly Putnam’s varsity Eagles won their game by a score of 50-42. It appeared the Eagles would easily take a victory but the last few minutes saw Chilton cut the score to only three points. Leading the Eagles in scoring were Lott Putnam with 25 points and A.J. Taylor with 18. Tyler Culpepper had five points and Miguel Gudino had two.

Coach Tress Graham’s varsity girls lost to Chilton girls 35-20. Scoring for the Eagles were McKinley Renfroe with six points, Ella Grace Montgomery five, Fredricka Douglas and Alexis Larkins each with three points and Arely Santay with one point.

Coach Brad Driggers coached his JV boys to a 25-19 victory of Chilton. The leading scorer for the Eagles was Sergio Bravo-Mota with 24 points. Caleb Smoker scored five points.

The JV girls fought hard but lost to Chilton in overtime 24-22. The leading scorer for the Eagles was Laura Lee Putnam with eight points followed by Alexis Larkins with seven.

The Eagles travel again Thursday to play Eastwood of Montgomery. Game time is 5:00 p.m. The varsity girls will not play in this game.

The Eagles first home game will be Monday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m. against Bear Creek. Only the varsity boys and girls will participate.
