On September 2, 2022, the Bullock County Hornets faced the Montgomery Academy Eagles.
Bullock County High School started the season with a 2-0 record, but they took on a squad that played in the 3A State Championship last season (lost to Piedmont 27-18).
It was a wet night at home, but the Hornets had a dry spell. Montgomery Academy controlled the game on both sides of the field. The Hornets struggled to move the ball. They had three turnovers (one interception and two fumbles) in the first half that were very costly.
On the defensive side, Bullock County could not stop the run. They did not plug up the holes or rush quickly outside the line. The Hornets also displayed poor tackling. Montgomery Academy drained the energy out of the Hornets. The Eagles had a 31-0 dominating first half. In the second, the Hornets failed to take advantage of the Eagles’ second-string players and lack of scoring in the second half.
BCHS got trampled 34-0 as the final result. Friday, September 9, the Hornets will have their first away game against the Andalusia High School Bulldogs. Kickoff will start at 7:00 p.m.
