The Bullock County Hornets preparing for the spring game.

The Bullock County Hornets wrap up their spring schedule with a spring game May 22, 2021 at Troy University, taking on Red Level.

After a 4-5 record and missing the playoffs last season, the Hornets look to return to playoff football this season.

Also, after losing, First Team All Region player, Brandon Perry and Second Team All Region player Bryant Grant, there were some big holes to fill.

QB1 for the Hornets this year will be Robert Williams, who has been with Hornets the past three years. Williams threw for 911 yards and rushed for 409 last year and has worked on his skill set as well as becoming a leader for the team in the weight room.

Bullock County's head football coach Sheldon Ward knows having three of his offensive linemen return this season, and a host of newcomers, is a huge help for a Hornets team looking to be more physical this fall.

“Our O-line has three starters returning and we are going to get physical and fire off the ball.” Ward said. “We want to establish a power running game, which with that mentality will help our defense get tougher as well.”

The Hornets offense last year was centered a lot around Williams, who will be leading the offense again this fall. The ball will be spread around to the talented backfield the Hornets have.

Ward feels good about the backfield he has the pleasure of coaching this spring. Returning is Jarquavios Smith and Ja’Markis Foster, with the addition od DiWonne Williams, Jermarkis Parker and Jordan King.

“We have a handful of backs we are confident about getting the ball to and that’s what we are going to do this year," Ward said.

The Bullock County spring game starts at 4:00 p.m.
