Tuesday, January 7, 2020, the Hornets went down to Montgomery Academy to take on the Eagles. The Hornets was facing an Eagles team with a 12-7 record.
Bullock County started off the game with great ball movement despite the full court pressure put on by Montgomery Academy.
With good ball movement the Hornets were able to penetrate inside the paint for easy scoring.
The Hornets were led by Luke Sturdivant.
Sturdivant was a monster in the paint scoring at will. The Hornets had a strong start but with the Hornet’s foul trouble the Eagles were able to come back from the free throw line.
The Hornets led 25-19 by halftime.
At the second, Montgomery Academy were able to spark a run to tie the game for a brief moment.
Thanks to the brilliant instruction of Coach Moore, Bullock County were able to play better defense without fouls and more rebounds.
Bullock County were able to get back into good their original strategy of moving the ball around the court breaking down the press.
The majority of the Hornets’ scoring were feeding the open man inside after he cut through the backdoor of the Eagle’s defense.
Bullock County also grabbed offensive rebounds which resulted into second chance scoring.
The capitalize their scoring run, the Hornets were able to close it out by fast break points to keep Eagle’s fans quiet.
The Hornets took the wind out of Montgomery Academy 58-32 as the final score.
Sturdivant led the way with outstanding numbers of 24 points 19 rebounds and had a block party with 6 rejections.
Dekari Anthony was the other double digits scorer with 16 points on his own.
