On September 9, 2021, South Highland Middle School faced the Samford Hornets at home. Off the jump, South Highland showed its dominance in the first half.
The defense did not allow much yardage. Led by their key players Dwiquillius Howard and Dorion Robbins, South Highland were monsters on the gridiron attacking the backfield and forcing fumbles.
On the offensive side, the Black and Gold were able to capitalize on good field possession. Running back Kaiden Ivey sprinted for a TD after the defense forced a fumble on Samford.
Lakeldric Pugh also added a touchdown to put South Highland up 14-0 at the half. In the second half, South Highland started to beat themselves on offense. They had costly false starts and holding penalties that took away the rhythm.
Samford was not able to take advantage of South Highland’s mistakes. Howard and Robbins picked up where they left off, continuing to make stops.
Howard finished the game with eight tackles, and Robbins contributed five tackles. At the end of regulation, South Highland took down Samford 14-0 as the final score.
