I was pleased to learn that the former Community Complex building at the corner of Baskin and Hardaway streets, which has long been vacant and appears from the looks of the outside to have a date with the wrecking ball, will apparently not be leveled.
While the siding has deteriorated, the interior and structural core seem to be in good condition.
So the word is the building can be revamped and brought to life again. I hope the county will look further into this prospect.
There are many other older commercial and residential structures in Union Springs that could be rejuvenated and repurposed.
Enterprises of this nature help maintain the rich architectural fabric of the community.
