Carter Funeral Home humbly announces the transition of Mrs. Lula Heaird, 90, of Union Springs, Alabama. A longtime resident of the New Town Community, Mrs. Heaird transitioned into eternity on September 24, 2020 in Montgomery, Alabama. Celebration of Life Services and Interment was held Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 12:00 noon from the Union Springs Perpetual Care Cemetery.
The message of triumph was delivered by Pastor Evins Faulk, Jr. of the Sweet Gum AME Zion Church of Shorter, AL. Public visitation will be held Friday, October 2, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home of Union Springs, Alabama.
All services and visitations will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols. Facial coverings for all attendees are mandated per an executive order of the Governor of the State of Alabama.
Sis. Lula Bell Heaird was born September 22, 1930 to the late Clarence Ray and Bessie Ray. Lula confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. Mark Church. She served faithfully until her health fell.
Lula was united in holy matrimony to the late John James Heaird. To this union, seven children were born. One son preceded her death. She departed this life on September 24, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center East in Montgomery, Alabama.
Lula leaves to cherish her precious and wonderful memories, four daughters: Doris (Roberl) Lamb, Columbus, Georgia, Mary Miles, Shirley Heaird (Sylvester) and Debbie Dent, all of Union Springs, Alabama; two sons: John James Heaird, Jr. (Eliva), Virginia Beach, Virginia and Jimmy (Emily) Heaird, Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters: Ophelia Taylor, Detroit, Michigan and Louise Lee, Saginaw, Michigan, one sister-in-law: Catherine Jackson, Detroit, Michigan; one brother-in-law: Arthur Lee Heaird, Union Springs, Alabama; ten grandchildren: Gregory, Christopher, Shannon, Corey (Shameka), Courtney, Reginald, Marquita, Ashley, Jermaine (Matayia) and Byron (Andrea); thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends.
