Michael Nicholas Waldrep

Michael Nicholas Waldrep, 37, died unexpectedly on January 12, 2022 in Las Vegas where he resided. He was born on Mother’s Day, May 13, 1984 in Birmingham, Alabama.

He grew up in Birmingham, graduated from Vestavia Hills High School, attended the University of Alabama, and graduated with honors with a business degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Nick was known for his great dry wit, his appreciation of friends and love of family. His professional career began with Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

He also dealt “Texas Hold’em” in the world Tournament poker Tour for two years. Most recently he served as Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis and Investor Relations at Diamonds, a Hilton company in Las Vegas.

Nick is survived by his mother Julie Griswold-Waldrep; father and other mother, Larry and Cindy Waldrep; brothers, Spencer and Weston Waldrep; fiancé, Dr. Ally McDaniel; uncle and aunt, Mike and Dianne Griswold; cousins, Beth Griswold and Taylor Griswold; and many friends and other relatives.

A grave-side service will be held on Friday, February 18, at 2:00 PM at the Union Cemetery, in Brewton, AL, 36426. A reception will follow the service at the Waldrep home at 146 Brooks Blvd. in Brewton.

A visitation (1:30 PM) and celebration of life service (2:30 PM) for loved ones and friends of Nicholas will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, in the Chapel at Frazer Methodist Church, 6000 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL.
