Augusta B. Johnson

Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mrs. Augusta B. Johnson, 73, of Union Springs, Alabama on November 23, 2020, in Montgomery, Alabama. Celebration of Life Services and Interment was held on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at 12:00 noon from Mason Cemetery.

Pastor Hovet Dixon of the St. Luke Baptist Church delivered the eulogy. Public visitation was held Friday, November 27, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. from Carter Funeral Home. All visitations and services were conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols. Facial coverings were required for all attendees.

On March 14, 1940, our heavenly father blessed Artee Guary and Rosie Bush with a beautiful daughter they named Augusta. She was loved and raised by Ms. Pearl Bush whom she loved as “Ma Pearl”. A devoted servant, she confessed a belief in Christ at an early age. She was a devoted member of the St. Luke Baptist Church family of Union Springs, Alabama.

She was educated in the Public School System. Augusta was a 1965 graduate of Carver High School in Union Springs, Alabama. She later attended Tuskegee Institute, now Tuskegee University. Always engaged in the community, she was employed by the Bullock County Public School System and completed her work career as an Executive Administrator with the Union Springs Utilities Board.

Augusta was united in holy matrimony to the late Richard W. Johnson (2018) for thirty-eight years. Preceded in death by her parents, her beloved “Ma Pearl”, her sister, Sarah Bangs, brother, Bobby Crawford and husband, Richard W. Johnson, Augusta answered the Masters Call on November 23, 2020.

Left to cherish precious memories are her sister. Lula P. Merchant, Tallassee, AL; brothers, Don (Bonnie) Guary, Artee ( Jean) Guary, and Ronnie (Melinda) Guary all of Eclectic, Alabama; her godsons Innis Duncan, Union Springs, Alabama and Kenneth (Margaret) Bentford, Montgomery, Alabama; goddaughter, Tiffany Bruce, along with numerous loving relatives and friends including her devoted inlaws, Mary ( Jim ) Ellis.
