Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Richard Franklin, Jr. of the Aberfoil Community, Union Springs, Alabama. Mr. Franklin, 74, peacefully transitioned into eternity September 19, 2021, in Montgomery, AL.

The Commemoration of life began with a public visitation, Friday, October 1, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.

The Farewell Celebration at Graveside was held Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 12:00 noon from the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Cemetery Pastor Hawthorne Reed of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church delivered the message of comfort and strength.

All visitations and services will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols and all attendees are encouraged to utilize appropriate facial coverings. RICHARD FRANKLIN JR. aka (BUG) was born in Bullock County AL on November 8, 1946, to his loving parents the late Richard and Lillie Franklin.

Richard received his wings to the Pearly Gates suddenly on September 19, 2021.

Richard was a lifelong resident of Union Springs, AL, and accepted CHRIST at an early age. He was the master of many skills but settled his last 25 years of employment before retirement as a truck driver for the Bonnie Plant Farm. Richard was a hardworking man who loved his family immeasurably.

There is no comparison of his love he showed to his wife surrounded by his five daughters in which he provided and raised. He loved watching TV especially sports. He had an ongoing rivalry with his eldest daughter all year long over who’s going to the Superbowl Patriots or Cowboys. Later years he won that rivalry and would always say “I told you so, now Pay Up”.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Lillie; daughter Cassandra; son Henry; granddaughters Shameko and Taccara, twin great granddaughters; great grandson; sisters Rosa Pearl and Vera Mae and brothers Jimmy Albert, Robert Lee, James Edward, and Willie Jean. Richard leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 56 plus years Margaret (Louise), daughters: Deacon Evon Hill of Akron, OH, Brenda L. Austin (Bobby), Pamela D. Jackson (Jerome) of Union Springs, AL Renthia Robbins (Mitchell Sr.) of Columbus GA and Monica Franklin of Montgomery, AL; brothers: Sylvester (Valleaner) of Savannah GA, Willie Steve (Sandy) of Lakeville, Minnesota, Robert Tarver (Gloria) of Union Springs, AL, and sister Cathleen (Will) of Orlando, Florida. Grandsons: Mitchell Jr., Martavious, Jibree Sr., Malik, Meshach, Dwight Jr., Jerome Jr., Adrian, Devoris Sr. Granddaughters: Courtney, Shinequa (Herman), Reynaldo (Davy), Trevon (Franklin), Eboni, Raemonique, Yanine, Monesha, Shonte, and twenty-six great grands and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends, including his Special family members Richard Rodgers and Minister Paul Walker and Special friend Willie Thomas.
