Rosie Johnson was born November 15, 1946 to the Union of James Jordan, Sr. and Rosianna Davis Jordan in Birmingham, AL.
Rosie married James "Bubba" Johnson, and to this union four children were born. Together they ran several family businesses in Union Springs, including Johnson's Grocery, J's Funk Junction, The Cottontail Lounge, BJ's Package Store and BJ's Amusement Center.
She also earned an Associates degree in Accounting from South College and operated Johnson's Bookkeeping & Accounting and was employed at Scott’s Chapel Hill Mortuary of Dothan and Ozark, Alabama.
Rosie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Wayman Chapel AME church in Union Springs, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent for the past 11 years.
She departed this life on Friday, November 6, 2020. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, sister, Mattie L. Jones and daughter, Juanita Youngblood.
She leaves to cherish her memories 3 children: Charles (Gwen) Johnson of Lawrenceville, GA; Denise Rodgers of Montgomery, AL; Carmella (Kenneth) Penn of Atlanta, GA; 1 son-in-law Charles Youngblood of Union Springs, AL.; 2 stepsons, Curtis (Pamela) Johnson of Franklin Park, NJ; James (Jannie) Johnson, Milford, NJ; 2 brothers, James (Gerri) Jordan of SC; Robert Jordan of Union Springs, AL; 1 sister, Janie Andrews of Cleveland OH; a dear friend Diane Phillips; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a very devoted and special friend: Dean Scott and the staffs of Scott’s Chapel Hill Mortuary and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home in Union Springs; the family will be having a private service; under the direction of the caring staff of Scott’s Chapel Hill Mortuary “Because We Care”.
