Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Ms. Gloria Jean Cory of Midway, Alabama. Ms. Cory, 60, peacefully transitioned into eternity October 12, 2021, at Troy Regional Medical Center.

The Commemoration of Life began with a public visitation, Friday, October 22, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home. The Farewell Celebration at Graveside was held Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. from the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Cemetery. Pastor Bruce Burks delivered the message of comfort and strength.

All visitations and services will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols and all attendees are encouraged to utilize appropriate facial coverings. Gloria Jean Cory entered this earthly life on October 24, 1960 and blessed her parents the late Theodis Roosevelt Murray and Rainey Louise Cory in Miami, FL.

Gloria graduated from Miami Beach High School Class of 1978, and soon relocated to Midway, AL where she met the love of her life Jessie Streeter, who preceded her in death. Jessie and Gloria had a devoted union for 29 years, and to this union three loving children were born, who they both loved and adored. Gloria was often quiet but was a sweet and kindhearted person who would give her last if she had it.

She was dedicated to her family and friends and was there for many who needed a shoulder to cry on often giving counsel to others. She joined the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and served as she was asked.

Gloria exchanged life for eternity and peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 12,2021. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Tracy and Samuel Cory.

Gloria's precious memories will always be cherished by her three children: Jessie James Jr., Marvin Karine, and Karen Surina Cory all of Midway, AL. Her devoted Mother Rainey Louise Cory of Miami, FL, and Mother Fannie Murray of Lambert, MS. Three Sisters: Rebecca Wiles, Karen (Enoch) Bethel both of Miami, FL. and Veyounder (Billie) Brown, of Florence, SC; One sister-in-law: Sally Larkins of Midway, AL; Seven Brothers: Larry Marshall, Tony Cory, and Johnny B. Cory all of Miami, FL, Theodis Roosevelt Murray Jr. of Marion, SC, Cornell Taper of Lambert, MS, Marcus (Regina) lngram of Akota, TN, and Trayon (Isabelle) Murray of Southhaven, MS,· One brother-in-law: Eddie Streeter of Midway, AL; Four Aunts: Lillie Mae Edwards of Shellman, GA, Willie Pearl Crawl and Vassie James both of Midway, AL, Willie Mae Morgan of Chicago, IL; One Uncle: Roy Murray of Midway, AL; Fourteen beautiful grandchildren: Jada, Jalen, Ja'Ceon, Ja'Noir, Marvion, Travion, Markia, Kareem, Paris, Aniya, Jordan, Kaiden, Paityn and Kyrie; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
