Carter Funeral Home humbly announces the peaceful transition of Mr. Willie James Jackson, 69, of Midway, AL. Mr. Jackson transitioned into eternity on December 3, 2020, in Opelika, Alabama. Celebration of Life Services and Interment was held at the Mt. Azure Missionary Baptist Cemetery, Midway, Alabama, on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at 1:00 p.m.
The message of triumph was delivered by Pastor G. Lewis of the First Missionary Baptist Church, Union Springs, Alabama. Public visitation was held on Friday, December 11, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home of Union Springs, Alabama.
All services and visitations were conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols. Facial coverings for all attendees were mandated per an executive order of the Governor of the State of Alabama.
Willie James Jackson was born November 30, 1952, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Doris Jackson. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mount Silla Missionary Baptist Church in Union Springs, Alabama.
Willie was educated in the Bullock County School System. He was a faithful employee at Auburn University until his health failed in February 2010.
Willie was also preceded in death by three brothers, James Jackson, Johnnie C. Rodgers, and Thomas J. Rodgers; and one sister, Ruby P. Jackson-Rowell. He departed this earthly life on December 3, 2020. He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Terrance B. Jackson; one daughter, Anitra E. Jackson; four grandchildren, Corey D. Grooms, Terrance Jackson, Jr., Jamiya Jackson, including a devoted grandchild, Gabrielle Jones; two great-grandchildren, Tre’Vell Grooms and Zylan Grooms; one sister, Dorothy Mae Thomas of Union Springs, Alabama; three aunts, Johnnie White, Lovey (Henry) Ross and Mary Reynolds, all of Montgomery, Alabama; one sister-in-law, Carrie Jackson, of Union Springs, Alabama; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a special friend, Catherine Wright of Auburn, Alabama.
