Celebrating the Transition of Life for Ms. Bettye Jean Turk was held Friday, October 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery 312 AL-239 (Aberfoil Community) Union Springs, AL 36089. Officiating Pastor Ronald C. Smith of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church 105 Cooper Street Union Springs, AL 36089.
All visitations and services will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols and all attendees are encouraged to utilize appropriate facial coverings.
Bettye Jean Turk was born in Union Springs, Alabama on Sunday, December 12, 1948 to the late Ella Mae Turk, Joe Turk, She was reared in love under the additional influence of the late Nellie Luckey.
Bettye gave her life to faith at an early age and joined Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church.
She graduated from Carver High School and continued her education at Alabama State University (ASU) in Montgomery, Alabama. Bettye graduated from ASU in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education with a minor in English.
After graduation, Bettye moved to Detroit, Michigan and worked until she retired as Debt Collector Manager for DTE Energy Corporation Service. She returned to Union Springs in 2014 and immediately became active as a faithful member of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church.
Bettye leaves to cherish her memories: one sister, Mary Jo Wooten, Peru, IN; one niece, Brenda Turk Glaze, Anchorage, AK,; family friend, Robert Walker; one great-nephew, Terrence “Monty” Glaze (Tamika) all of Union Springs, AL; one great-niece, Candice Glaze, Anchorage, Alaska; five great-great nieces and nephews, T’yana Glaze, Miriam Matthew, Keandre Glaze, Serenity Anderson -Glaze, and Chance Jordan Glaze; family members, Delores, James, Linda, Bennie, Earl, The Motleys, The Scotts, The Higgins etc.; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
