Senior First Baseman Richard Santay drove in four runs on a pair of hits to lead the Conecuh Springs Christian baseball squad past Victory Christian of Millbrook 14-4 on Friday, March 19, 2021 on Eagle Diamond at Conecuh Springs.
Conecuh Springs sent thirteen hitters to the plate in the first inning. The big inning was sparked by singles from Miguel Gudino and Lott Putnam. Cleanup hitter Richard Santay then singled in Putnam and Tyler Culpepper, who had walked, to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.
The Eagles went on to post four more in the first frame and never looked back.
Victory would score four runs in the top half of the third inning. The Millbrook squad took advantage of five walks in the inning to bring the score to 8-4 before Conecuh Springs stretched the lead in the bottom half of the inning with two more runs.
Conecuh Springs moved away for good in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Gudino reached on an error. Culpepper followed with his third walk of the day. After a Victory pitching change, Putnam scored Gudino and pushed Culpepper to third with a double to left centerfield.
Santay drove them both home with his second hit of the day. His two-rbi double gave the Eagles the 14-4 lead that they would make stand up for good.
Junior righthander Miguel Gudino started on the mound for the Eagles. He went two and 1/3 innings striking out five and walking six. Lott Putnam came on in the trouble-filled third inning. Putnam closed out the five-inning contest while striking out seven and walking one.
