District One County Commissioner Don Larkins urged other county commissioners to vote “yes” for the park’s re-opening at the September 13, 2021, Bullock County Commission meeting.

“The park has undergone substantial renovations and is ready to be used by the public once again,” stated Commissioner Larkins.

The park’s renovations include:

The repainting of the concession stand

Repaving of the parking lot, sidewalks, and basketball court

Updating the baseball field

Striped the parking lot

One citizen at the meeting asked if a walking trail was created at the park?

“Right now, a walking trail at the park is not safe; however, we are looking into creating one in the future that will be safe for everyone in Bullock County to utilize,” commented Commissioner Larkins.

Commissioner John McGowan voiced his concerns regarding the new COVID-19 Delta Variant Mandate set to end November 1, 2021.

McGowan felt it might not be safe to open with community activities.

As of now, a re-open date is not set, but it will open without significant community activities.
