The Union Springs Police Department received a call around noon on Monday, December 27, 2021, regarding shots fired on Levy Street.
There was an exchange of gunfire between two vehicles according to Union Springs Police Chief Ronnie Felder.
One car was impounded with no arrest made.
The other car was still at large.
Phone calls started coming in again at the Union Springs Dispatchers office. The second car was spotted by officers on 82 East. The USPD attempted to stop the car but the car failed to stop.
The second car ran thru three or four stop signs and didn’t stop for a red light. The car ran the stop sign at Johnson and Lock and went airborne.
The car landed feet from the pedestrian, Mrs. Sheila Davis, the wife of Joe Davis, and then made contact with Mrs. Davis which was fatal.
The driver was apprehended but no arrests have been made. ALEA is working the crash scene.
