Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox

SAMARITAN’S PURSE – Based in Boone, NC Samaritan’s Purse responds to the physical and spiritual needs of individuals in crisis situations – especially in locations where few others are working. Led by President and CEO Franklin Graham (son of the late evangelist Billy Graham) Samaritan’s Purse works in more than 100 countries to provide aid to victims of war, disease, disaster, poverty, famine, and persecution. For more information visit samaritanspurse.org.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD - OCC is a project of Samaritan’s Purse that delivers SHOEBOXES filled with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies to children around the world as a tangible expression of God’s love through the hands of local partners to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, God’s Greatest Gift.

OCC Shoebox Gift program began in the early 1990s with shoebox gifts for children in war-torn Bosnia.

Since then more than 188million children in over 170 countries and territories have received a shoebox gift. This has involved millions of shoebox packers and more than 15,000 volunteers who serve year-round to carry out the project.

Shoebox Gifts are collected in the U.S., Canada, The United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Finland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea.

WHY? Children who receive a shoebox gift also receive THE GREATEST GIFT booklet.

Many participate in a 12-lesson discipleship program called THE GREATEST JOURNEY.

They learn who JESUS is, how to have a relationship with Him, and how to tell others about Him. They receive a colorfully illustrated New Testament in their own language.

SO WHAT – WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

YOU are invited to share the love of Jesus with a child by preparing a SHOEBOX GIFT. Be sure to read through the How to Pack a Shoebox brochure to learn more. (You may pack as many as you want to – pray over each one as you prepare it for the child who will receive your gift of love and hope.)
