Union Springs Mayor Roderick Clark announced he had suspended Police Chief Ronnie Felder shortly after going into Executive Session at Monday night’s city council meeting held October 18, 2021.
Mayor Clark said Chief Felder is suspended with pay until further hearings are held. Mayor Clark gave no reason why Chief Felder was suspended.
Mayor Clark appointed Chief Felder on November 2, 2020, after he terminated Chief Danny Jackson.
The mayor said at the council meeting, the police committee and the full city council will meet about the suspension of Chief Felder. The police committee consists of former Police Chief Clarence Wheeler, former Prison Warden Giles, Courtney Woodfaulk, and City Councilman Louis Murry.
When asked who was the acting chief, Mayor Clark said either John Spencer or Gary Lewis but a decision would be made the next morning.
