Community Bank and Amerifirst Bank have started closing on Saturdays effective Oct. 1, 2021.

President of Community Bank and Trust of Union Springs Dave Bryant said Community Bank is closed to reduce overhead costs and to be more considerate of their employees with regard to time off.

Community Bank offers full service five days a week. The lobby is open 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Thursday and 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 on Fridays.

Some comments from a Facebook post:

  • Most banks are closed on Saturdays and Sundays
  • If closing on Saturday, maybe close an hour later on Friday
  • Stay open until 5:30 weekdays
  • Close half a day during the week and stay open until noon on Saturday
  • I feel the employees deserve the extra time off
  • Saturday is the only time off for some people to make a transaction.
  • I try not to go out on Saturday so I am ok with the change

A representative from Amerifirst said the Saturday traffic has been monitored for over nine years. Amerifirst has two ATMs in Union Springs, one at the Piggly Wiggly and one at the drive-in which is free to customers. We offer every customer a free debit card. The bank will highlight new products they have invested in soon. The lobby is open 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
