Bullock County is one of the counties in the "Black Belt." In these counties, August 2-5 is slated to be "Senior Health Week."

The purpose is to promote healthy living in older adults/senior citizens to prevent or delay the onset of chronic diseases such as stroke, Type II Diabetes, heart disease and dementia.

All events during this week are "virtual" and free to anyone ages 55 years and older. If you have questions or would like to register, contact the local Family and Consumer Science County Extension Agent.

This is Latanya Hunt-Harelson for Bullock and Barbour counties, (334) 775-3284. Group participation is encouraged from all local senior sites, nutrition centers, assisted living facilities, community centers, and civic organizations.
