An apparent "inmate-on-inmate" assault resulted in the death of an inmate at the Bullock County Correctional Facility in Union Springs during the second week of November 2020.

The exact cause of the death of the inmate, Dwight Campbell, is pending an autopsy. He was 48 years old and was serving a 20-year sentence for receiving stolen property.

A spokesman for the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) stated, "The ADOC condemns all violence in its facilities, and the fatal actions taken against Campbell by another inmate are being thoroughly investigated."
