Carla Elston made three announcements for the Alabama Cooperative Extension System's Bullock County office at the City Council meeting on January 4, 2021.

(1) The local Extension office has over 500 AU masks available for distribution to underserved individuals within Bullock County. Carla Elston requested assistance from the City Council to distribute masks within their district (i.e., churches, housing projects). Come by the Extension office to pick up the masks. This program is a partnership with the Auburn University Alumni Association.

(2) The ALPROHEALTH's 'sidewalk' project plan has been submitted and approved by Auburn University Facilities. The Extension office is currently waiting on Barrett and Simpson to submit bids for the project's completion. The plan is to install a handicap access ramp into an existing sidewalk and add safety traffic markings across a city street to lead from the sidewalk to the public recreation facility.

(3) An Opioid Focus Group Meeting for Bullock County would be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. The hosts would be the Bullock County Extension Office and the University of Alabama's Center of Economic Development. This is part of a statewide research effort to determine the Opioid issue (concerns, capacity, etc.) in each county of the state.
