Rob Cameron, Chief of Union Springs Fire Department, reported for December 2021 at the City Council meeting on January 4, 2022.

Firefighters responded to three vehicle accidents:

Two vehicles accident on Highway 82 E on December 3, 2021.

One vehicle accident resulted in a death on Highway 29 S on December 18, 2021.

Assisted the Union Springs Police Department with an accident scene on Johnson Street on December 27, 2021.

Extinguished two car fires on Wayne Farms on December 8, 2021, and a car fire on Highway 29 N on December 23, 2021.

Extinguished stove fire on Owens Court on December 31, 2021.

Washed down the roadway on Highway 82 W on December 10, 2021.

Fireman attended two drills to practice skills on December 6 and 29, 2021.

Firefighters respond to car accidents as part of their job in providing valuable assistance to save lives. They are equipped and trained to handle these calls.

The fire engine and firefighters are on hand to prevent further accidents, fires, etc. They can offer additional medical skills. They are usually qualified as EMTs, and many are licensed paramedics. They can treat injuries in an emergency. They can use special tools to free accident victims trapped in the vehicle.
