The City Council approved a Recreational Trail Program Resolution.

The mayor said to get the ball rolling, let’s approve this, and our approval is needed for the beginning stages of the South Central Alabama Development Commission (SCADC) grant.

Tim Simpson, the city engineer for Union Springs, is the lead for this project.

Mayor Clark said a non-motorized trail will cost $250,000 and a motorized trail will cost $450,000 with zero match from the city.

Councilman Eugene Faulk said in the paperwork he received, it would cost the city $80,000.

The mayor said the city will use “in-kind” but would cost the city zero dollars.

The council passed the motion.
