When I look at you, I see a Veteran who sacrificed his life for this country when serving during the Vietnam War. I recognize a God-fearing man, proficient entrepreneur, leader, mentor and supporter. I celebrate and honor you for your integrity, patriotism, love for this country, and willingness to serve your community.
I thank you for paving the way for the many entrepreneurs and leaders in Bullock County. I believe you took initiative when you became the City of Union Springs, Alabama first African American Mayor, City Councilman, a charter member of the Walker, Banks, Perry and Smith VFW Post #5980, and the Bullock County Commissioner in District 3. You also took initiative when you provided entertainment and affordable rooms at McGowan’s Motel to many in the surrounding areas. You are a Veteran with a voice, plan, and purpose. You never allow anyone to alter your beliefs, opinions, and values.
I appreciate you for advising me on my career, education, future, home, and relationships. Thank you for always supporting me and being one of my biggest cheerleaders. Thank you for encouraging me to keep the faith and remain professional no matter what obstacles I face. Thank you for not judging me when I make mistakes.
You are influential in my life. You are not only my friend, you are family…I love you! Happy Veterans Day!!
