Gary Hyche presented a monthly report for the Union Springs Utilities Board at the Union Springs City Council meeting on July 6, 2021. The operating report was from May 21 through June 21, 2021.
Work on sewer lines was mentioned several times. The caved-in sewer line on Tye Avenue was repaired. A portion of Ellis Street was paved, where a sewer line was repaired. Work is to be done on a sewer line on MLK. Work was completed on work orders as assigned for water, sewer, and gas. Water, sewer, and gas lines were located as assigned.
Clear Water Solutions (CWS) is working on GIS for water, sewer, and gas system. CWS is working with the Union Springs Utilities Board Engineer to develop long-term plans for water and sewer upgrades, such as meters, new tank location, lead removal, I and I location, valve placement, etc.
In the category of meters, data logs were completed on several meters. All gas and water meters were read, including re-reads and skipped meters. Turn-offs were done for non-payment, and numerous water meter heads and gas modules were replaced. CWS is working with contractors on a meter replacement plan.
CWS collected bacteriological samples and all wastewater samples and delivered them to the lab.
CWS worked with the Union Springs Street Department to make sure roads were repaired in a timely manner, worked with AL DOT to get the leak repaired on Highway 82, and worked with New Co for repairs on Well #2.
The CCR report and the EPA Risk and Resilience report were completed.
Operations report, "(1) DMR: Wastewater plants and spray-field met the standards required by ADEM, (2) MOR: Meets standards required by ADEM, and (3) PSC inspection went well".
