Union Springs Police Department (USPD) is investigating two separate shootings that happened within hours of each other, leaving one victim deceased and one victim in serious but stable condition.
At approximately 7:30 pm, Saturday, June 12, 2021, USPD received a call about a shooting that occurred in the 1400 block of Hicks Industrial Boulevard at the Willow Ridge Apartment Complex.
The victim, 25-year-old Andre Nesby Woods, Jr., received two gunshot wounds, one to the neck and the other to the side/abdomen area.
Woods was transferred by ambulance to the Bullock County Hospital and then moved to Baptist South in Montgomery due to the extent of his injuries. Woods remains in the hospital and is considered in serious but stable condition.
“At this point in time, there are no witnesses and no other information,” stated Union Springs Police Chief Ronnie Felder.
The USPD is trying to locate a person of interest, in this case, for questioning. The second shooting was called in to the USPD at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021.
This shooting took place at the 200 block of Pascal Ave at the business place of Sambo’s.
“We do not have information on what led to the altercation, but there was evidence of a scuffle at the scene of the crime,” commented Chief Felder.
48-year-old Bryant Jermaine Love, the alleged shooter, shot 33-year-old Kentrell Ladon Batie multiple times in the upper torso during a heated altercation. Batie was transferred by a privately owned vehicle to Bullock County Hospital, where he was received by medical professionals.
Batie was determined deceased upon arrival by the lead doctor on call. Love is being held for murder and is currently in custody at the Bullock County Jail.
Chief Ronnie Felder is urging the community to come forward with any information regarding both incidents. “We’re asking the community to be involved with crimes such as these.
The USPD depends on the support of the community to assist in bringing these violators to justice. These two cases are currently active investigations.
As always, as soon as we have more information, we will update the public as it is given to us,” stated Chief Felder.
