First Assembly Church at 946 Peachburg Road gave away food boxes on July 24, 2021. Jon Peters has been pastor of the church since 2003.

He has a national ordination and can preach in any state. He is the Drug Treatment Counselor at the local Bullock County Correctional Facility.

His wife, Debbie Peters, said they have a burden for the community.

"We want to help the community and show there is hope and there are people who care."

Pastor Peters said everyone is invited to the church every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. to pray for the community.

He said, "The relationship with Jesus is what is important, not a denomination, a belief system. Something amazing is coming to Union Springs."
