Rexton Cox, Jr. and Willie Tarver Smart, Jr. were recognized at Monday’s commission meeting for an act of bravery as they rescued three people trapped in a burning vehicle Friday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Main announce the birth of a son, on April 8th, whom they have named James Allen Main.

There will be a cemetery working at Indian Creek Cemetery on Saturday. Everybody interested please come and bring tools.

Miss Geraldine Law spent Sunday with her parents at Stills Cross Roads.

The deacons at the First Baptist Church met on Monday evening in the home of Messrs. R W. and M. B. Lawrence, at which time a number of important matters were brought up for discussion. These recommendations will be brought before the church body, and voted upon, at an early date. A social hour was later enjoyed and refreshments served. The following members were present: Messrs. D. B. Beverly, J. W. Springer, B. L. Hamner, W. W. Jordan, G. B. Howard, W. L. McIlwain, Hugo McEachern, Dr. W. H. McCaslan, Dr. J. K. Haygood, and the pastor, Rev. O. C. Kidd.

100 Years Ago - 1920

A very light docket was encountered in County Court here Monday. Only one conviction was had, that of Elijah Fountain, who was convicted of trespass after warning. He was given a fine of ten dollars and cost.

The Magazine Club will meet with Mrs. F. H. Anderson Thursday afternoon at 3:30.

The Music Study Club will meet on Thursday with Mrs. J. L. Pittman.
