Investigators seek clues in a fiery crash that claimed the lives of seven riding in an Alabama Department of Corrections van. Six of the victims were job applicants on their way for a pre-employment application process. This accident has left investigators with heavy hearts and unanswered questions.

25 Years Ago - 1993

Graduates of the Leadership Program “Building the Best Bullock County” gathered at Cedar Lodge in Union Springs for graduation ceremonies are: Colleen Forrer, Dianne Agnew, Randolph Hall, Johnny Adams, Margaret Adams, Hulen Barr, Cecilia Moorer, Doris Roten, Jimmy Smitherman, Barbara McLaurine, Liz Mahaffey, Betty Helms, Faye Gaston, Tom King, Sylvia Long and Annette Wallace.

The Cliff Hoffman Mason home in the Indian Creek community is the site for the Dasinger Family reunions. Mrs. Dina Mason Moore had Indian Creek signs erected and there are prints of Indians and “old” items inside.

On Wednesday, three groups of children from Locke terrace Head Start visited The First National Bank. The children were guided through the bank my Melanie Arrington, Eunice Ricks and Juanita Smith.

Bullock Memorial has been preparing this week for Bessemer Academy. BMS center in Jason Randall. Glenn Davis, Robert Moorer, Eric Hasson, Michael McKee, Jerry Sweat and Reid Hall will have their hands full this week.

50 Years Ago - 1968

Mark Springer, who is a page in the House of Representatives in Washington, is doing a fine job says Representative George Andrews. A page’s life is not an easy one, and it takes a smart boy to make the grade.

Ed Moore was named Chairman of the Board of Deacons at First Baptist last Monday night, following Chairman George Adams, and men like Dr. O. Emfinger, Gerald Bozeman and Jim Vann, who have served the church in that capacity in the past.

Last Monday was a red letter day in the life of Hoye (Tiny) Woodruff because it marked the end of 25 years of service with the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co.

75 Years Ago - 1943

Officers of the Bullock County Medical Society ar Dr. C. M. Franklin, Dr. W. H. McCaslan and Dr. J. K. Haygood.

Mr. and Mrs. James L. Paulk announce the birth of a daughter, Betty Ward, October 6, at St. Margaret's hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Kilgore announce the marriage of their daughter, Edith Candler, to William Harlan Graham, December 24, 1942, in Dothan.

Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Cameron are leaving Sunday afternoon by plane, for New York City, in a business and pleasure trip.
