Bullock County high School announces top three graduates Valedictorian; Meonka Giles, Salutatorian Tiffany Swanson, and Historian Jordan Allen.

Miss Samantha Eugena Holmes graduated from Alabama State University on May 9, 2009 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education Magna Cum Laude.

Four Bullock County High School seniors were honored for all their hard work at the Union Springs AG and in school. Edwin Lewis, manager of AG, Miller Peebles, Co-manager of AG, Morris Smith, Co-manager of AG, honored Senior Domenique Patterson, Alexa Blakely, Cornelious Warmack, and Tevin King.

Melissa Mae Adams and Rebecca Latane Graham graduated with highest honors from Auburn University during the spring commencement exercises.

25 years ago - 1994

Mrs. Louise Taylor Poe, a resident of Tye Ave, recently attended her fiftieth year class reunion at Alabama A&M university Huntsville, Alabama.

The University of Alabama awarded Sara Trussell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Trussell of Union Springs, a BAC degree Saturday, May 14 at commencement exercises held on the Tuscaloosa campus.

Mr. and Mrs. Gumbie Jordan attended the Change of Command Ceremony in honor of son, Command Sergeant Major Jeffery G. Jordan, outgoing Commandant of the noncommissioned Officers Academy on May 10, 1994. C.S.M. Jordan, wife, Betty (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Houston) and son, Sam, will be reporting to Fort Hood, Texas on June 6 for Commander Jordan’s next assignment as C.S.M. of the 31st A.D.A Brigade.

Mrs. Albert Kirkland of Birmingham, is visiting with Mrs. Eunice Thompson and Miss Frances Thompson, who are occupying the R. W. West home for the summer.

Miss Nan Edwards is home from Wesleyan College, Macon, Ga., for the summer vacation.

Miss Janice Turnipseed returned Wednesday evening from Ward Belmont College where she is one of its valued instructions.
