On January 8, 2009, the Chunnenuggee Public Garden Club met at the Eastside Baptist Church. Member Barbara Cox was the hostess.

Union Springs Recreation Center’s “Players of the Week” are Amarion Hill, Tyjia Hicks, Makiyah Manuel, Myles Caples, Christopher Manuel, Jr., Peyton Hutto, Demarcus Anthony, Le’Markis Hill, Larry Sellers, Richard Lane and Travious Johnson.

25 Years Ago - 1994

Robert L. Cameron, Jr. (Bobby) recently retired from Wayne Farms. Mr. Cameron started working at Wayne Farms in 1972 when it was called Allied Mills.

On Tuesday, March 15, 1994, Main Drug Store will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Roger and Brenda Renfroe had a busy day and night Sunday, March 6. They became grandparents twice in the same day but it was not twins. Their son, Gabe, and their daughter, Chris, both presented a granddaughter each to them.

50 Years Ago - 1969

Mac Smith, Steve Dunn, and Rentz Dunn were elected to membership in The National Beta Club at Macon Academy High School.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes had their regular meeting Wednesday. They elected new officers for the coming year. They are as follows: President, Stan Pritchett; Vice-President, Jackie Parker; Secretary-Treasurer, Donnie Brooks; Chaplain, Randy Priori; Program Chairman, Ron Welk.

75 Years Ago - 1944

Tin pails or buckets, such as those in which corn syrup comes, make good containers in which to keep lard and other fats, cookies, dried beans and peas, and dried fruits.

Mr. and Mrs. John W. Beverly and son, Charlie, came over from Savannah, Ga., this week for a visit with the homefolks.
