The Magazine Club met at the lovely home of Jane klingler. President Jane Williamson called the meeting to order, and sixteen members answered roll call with the names of brave women in history.
Mrs. Margaret Baxely welcomed ten members of the Chunnenuggee Public Garden Club to her lovely home in Montgomery. Enola Bozeman presided and Mary Richards called roll and read the minutes.
The 142nd Session of the Alabama Conference was held at Solomon Chapel AME Zion in Tuskegee, Alabama. Bishop James E. McCoy was the Presiding Prelate.
25 Years Ago - 1994
A host of family members helped little Abby Orr celebrate her tenth birthday Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas May, her grandparents. Abby is the daughter of Joe and Becky Orr.
Mr. and Mrs. John L. Adams announce the birth of their baby daughter, Abby Elaine Adams on November 15, 1994 at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery. Abby Weighed 7lbs. and 3 ozs. and was 20 inches long. Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rowland of Clayton, Alabama and Mr. and Mrs. John E. Adams of Union Springs. Great grandparents are Ms. Joesphine Adkins of Phenix City Alabama and Mr. and Mrs. James Paulk of Union Springs, Alabama.
Mrs. George W. Andrews was hostess to the Twentieth Century Club at the Union Springs Country Club. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. O. Emfinger, Second Vice-President. The club collect was read by Mrs. G. A. Main, Secretary, who then read the minutes and called the roll.
50 Years Ago - 1969
Pretty June Thompson reigned over homecoming festivities at Wallace High School, Clayton, Ala. A member of the senior class, June's parents are Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Thonmpson, III of Midway. She has been attending school at Wallace HIgh for six years and commutes from Midway.
New Trooper Here: State Patrolman Lonnie David Patrick, 22, is now stationed in Union Springs. He is a native of Ozark.
Mrs. Ray Davidson and children, Griff and Jane and Mrs. E. C. Bassett and boys, Jimmy and Wayne were weekend visitors in the home of Mrs. Inez Colquitt.
Airman Willie E. Anglin, son of Mrs. Fairy M. Henry of Rt. 3, Union Springs, has completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas. He has been assigned to Chanute AFB, Ill., for training in the aircraft equipment maintenance field. Airman Anglin is a graduate of Carver High School.
75 Years Ago - 1944
Col. H. J. Rosenstihl happened to the misfortune one day last week, while on an inspection tour of the Bullock Warehouse, to sustain a fall. Though the accident was not serious, the injuries necessitated his having to rest up for a few days. His friends are glad to see him out again.
Friends of Thomas G. Archibald, now on foreign duty with the U. S. Air Corps, will be interested to know of his recent promotion from Lieutenant, to Captain.
