After 35 years of educational service, longtime English instructor and pillar to the Bullock County High School community, Ms. Nadine Ivy has retired from instruction.

Chunnenuggee Garden Club President Enola Bozeman was happy to announce the winner of their Smokey the Bear Poster Contest. South Highlands Middle School 4th grader Selena Cunningham was the lucky winner of the contest.

Historian of the Bullock County Historical Society, Faye Gaston made the wreath presentation at the 16th annual Veterans Day Program at the local National Guard Armory.

Happy Birthday to Mrs. Bertha Coleman. Everyone come to the Multipurpose Center Tuesday, December 1, 2009 to celebrate Mrs. Bertha Colemans 95th birthday. We promise you this will be an unforgettable celebration. See you there! Love you! The family.

The Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Christmas Parade Saturday beginning at 12:00 noon, according to Chairman Dave Bryant.

Mr. and Mrs. Phil Richardson spent the Thanksgiving holidays with their daughter, Pam Kennon, and sons in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Bruce and Kristy Evans of Fitzpatrick announce the birth of their son, Tyler Ross Evans. Proud grandparents are Marvin and Peggy Evans of Union Springs, Alabama and Patricia Williams of Big Point, Mississippi and Allen Williams of Pascagoula, Mississippi. Great grandparents are Faye Tindoll of Union Springs, Alabama, Margie Katzemeyer of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Gordon Ross of Searcy, Arkansas. He is welcomed home by his two year old sister, Lauren Blake.

50 Years Ago - 1969

Mr. and Mrs. John Hall of Montgomery and Mr. Fred Hall and son, Charles of Union Springs were Sunday guests of Mrs. Emmett Hall, Sr. and son, Mr. Jeff Hall.

Dr. and Mrs. O. Emfinger, Mrs. Hugh Garner, Jr., and Miss Linda Slaton motored to Tuscaloosa Sunday to visit Miss Trish Emfinger, a student at the University of Alabama.

Mr. and Mrs. Dewey M. Griswell wish to announce the birth of a baby girl, born November 7 in Bullock County Hospital whom they have named Amy Elizabeth.

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis S. Jordan wish to announce the birth of a son, born November 7 in Bullock County Hospital, whom they have named Dennis Bartley.

75 Years Ago - 1944

Mrs. E. L. Jackson and Robbie Jean Jackson spent Thanksgiving day in Tallassee, and from there went to Opelika for the week-end. Mr. Jackson joined them there on Sunday.
