Twenty new jobs are scheduled to become available in September at Bullock County Hospital’s new psychiatric wing.

Despite tornado sirens and dark looming clouds, a large number of Bullock Countians attended the National Day of Prayer event held at Conecuh Springs Christian School at the Mayor’s seventy-third prayer breakfast.

Fifteen Bullock county natives were awarded degrees during the 279th commencement exercises at Alabama State University. They were; Laneshia Vonsetta Babers, Emmalette Tarver, Vanessa Ann Ivey, Geri Monique Means, Randy Ceon Braxton, Gwendolyn Denise Hooks Davis, Kimberlyn Latrice Parham, Isiah Moore, Lareccia Williams, Samanthe E. Holmes, Phonda Victoria Townsend, Chenequia Lashaun Peterson, Reynaldo Dione Franklin, Georgia Marie Tarver, and Jasmine Shonte Blakely.

25 Years Ago - 1994

Dennis Thomas of Union Springs has been named Vice-President of Alabama Farmers Cooperative, Inc. and General Manager of the Bonnie Plant Farm Division. Mr. Thomas will replace the present General Manager, Tommy Paulk, who will be moving to Decatur, Alabama, to take a position there with Alabama Farmers Co-Op., the parent company of Bonnie Plant Farm.

Main & Associates, who will open a new nursing home in Union Springs later this summer, will be taking applications for 60 jobs.

Bullock Memorial School today announced the 1994 honor graduates valedictorian is Mona Padgett. Mona is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Young Padget of Union Springs. Midge Padget, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Young Padget has been chosen as Salutatorian. The 1994 Historian is Laura Powell, the daughter of Mr. and Ms. Derrell Powell of Union Springs.

Cedar Hall, the lovely home of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Trussell, was the setting for a bridal tea honoring Miss Laura Bozeman. Hostesses for the occasion were, Mrs. Pete Trussell, Mrs. Wilmer Dismukes, Mrs. Sam Waters Jr., Mrs. Sam Waters Sr., and Mrs. Johnny Capps.

The Administration and Faculty of Bullock County High School are pleased to announce its top three graduates of 1994 are Dewanna Cunningham, Valedictorian; Hazel Williams, Historian; and Sonja Still, Salutatorian.

50 Years Ago - 1969

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hoffmann, Paige Hoffman and Miss Mary Moore attended the Horse Show in Birmingham Saturday.

Miss Bessye Adelia Haiglar and Wayne Paulk Turner, were honored Friday evening with a cocktail- buffet supper. Host couple was Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Cohn at their home on Hunter Ave.

Mr. and Mrs. H. C. “Buck” Mattox, Jr. of Ozark, Al. announced the birth of a son Horace Craig Mattox, III, on May 1st.

75 Years Ago - 1944

Dewey Stewart of the U.S. Navy is at home on furlough.

Last Friday evening the Chemistry Class enjoyed a delightful outing at Chewacla Park. Swimming and games were enjoyed and to top it off a delicious picnic super. Mrs. Dave Crawford and Mrs. C.T. Springer enjoyed the occasion with the Club.

Mr. Leo Houseton left on Tuesday of last week for Birmingham where he was inducted in the U.S.N.
