The Bullock County Commission was told Monday morning that six illegal dump sites will soon be cleaned up and a stern warning was given to persons dumping at illegal dump sites.

Individuals 18 years of age or older what want to become a Certified Nursing Assistant are invited to apply for and participate in the Federally funded program at Wallace Community College, which will prepare them for work in such local entities as Bullock County Hospital, Southern Springs Healthcare & Rehabilitation Facility, Doctor’s offices, area health department, Department of Corrections and home health agencies.

25 Years Ago - 1995

Deputy Raymond Rodgers, Deputy Gary Smith and Sheriff Chalres Hudson destroyed a whiskey still last Wednesday. The still was located about a half mile north of Hwy. 51 near Hurtsboro.

Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Wilson Jinks, Jr. announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Leslie Ann to James Thomas Parham, son of Lt. (U.S. N. Retired) and Mrs. James E. Parham.

Mrs. W. A. Redd, Jr. arrived yesterday to spend a few days with Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Rainer.

Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Faulk, of Smuteye, have received a telegram from the Adjutant General in Washington, informing them that their son, Hayden Faulk, Jr., was slightly wounded in action on January 4, in Belgium.

Mr. E. A. Cameron will leave Sunday for New York City, to purchase spring and summer merchandise for The Fair Co.

100 Years Ago - 1920

Mr. McIver Paulk left Sunday for Montgomery, where he has accepted a position with the Teague Hardware Co. His place at the Rainer Hardware Co. is being filled by Mr. J. O Chappell.

There will be a Recital given by the Music Pupils of Mrs. W. C. Thompson, at the Library, Friday afternoon, at 3:45 o’clock. Everybody is cordially invited to attend.
