The Conecuh Springs Christian School Ballet class, taught by Ms. Gail Barr, performed Thursday as the entertainment for the annual Junior League Holiday Market held at the Renaissance Center in Montgomery. The girls were all dressed as reindeer as they sang carols and did a festive dance for everyone.
Joseph Crawford was chosen as Student of the Month for September. Joseph was nominated by his teacher, Leigh Combest. Katharyn Barker has been chosen as Student of the Month for October. She is in the kindergarten class at Conecuh Springs Christian School and was nominated by her teacher, Mary Alice Hall.
Bullock County’s 2009 Junior Miss Program was held Saturday at Conecuh Springs Christian School. Ellyssa Yanine Cobb was selected as Bullock County’s 2009 Junior Miss with Jalicia Jontae Maddox, Bullock County High School, first runner up.
25 Years Ago - 1993
Fire broke out last Wednesday afternoon in the basement of the Bullock County Hospital and Nursing Home. But Fire Chief Thomas May said the damage was minor.
A Veteran’s Day celebration and parade sponsored by Mayor Durden Dean and the Tourism Council will be held November 11, at 11:00 a.m. The program will be presented by Joe Gholston, Phil Richardson, Feagin Johnson and Faye Gaston.
November has been proclaimed as “Adoption Awareness Month” in Alabama by Governor Jim Folsom.
50 Years Ago - 1968
On October 15, 1968 the 8th grade 4-H girls met for the first meeting of the new year. New officers for the coming year were elected under the direction of Miss Henderson. They are: President, Mary Moore; Vice-President, Pam Richardson; Secretary, Phillis Beasley; and Reporter, Kathryn Adams.
Mrs. Wayne Chancey entertained on Friday afternoon in honor of her young daughter, Caroline, who was celebrating her fifth birthday. Eight of Caroline’s little friends joined her for this happy occasion. A favorite of all parties is pinning the tail on the donkey. In this contest Joan Cohn was awarded a prize.
Mrs. E. B. Chancey, Mrs. J. H. Rainer, Jr., and Mrs. C. G. Shanks attended the opera “Carmen” at Sidney Lanier auditorium in Montgomery Sunday.

Friends of Lynn Jinks, Jr., will be interested to know that he has been promoted to Petty Officer in the Naval Air Corps at the Pensacola Naval Air Base, Pensacola, Fla. Upon appointment he was assigned to Corry Field to to study air traffic control. On Nov. 15th, his Squadron wll be transferred to Whiting Field, Milton, Fla., where Lynn will be Petty Officer in charge of air traffic control for his squadron.
