This Friday night, September 6, 2019, the Bullock County Hornets (0-1, 0-0) host the 11th ranked Saint James Trojans (2-0, 0-0) after losing to the 9th ranked Reeltown Rebels and working hard during the off week.
Trojans running back Austin Gavin carried the ball nine times for 166 yards and three touchdowns and added an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in St. James' 42-19 win over Straughn.
Gavin played for Bullock County Head Coach Willie Spears for a brief time at Montgomery Carver and is the cousin of Assistant Head Coach Marc Anthoni Peacock.
The Trojans defeated the Hornets last season 41-19 giving the Hornets their 60th consecutive region lost.
This was the longest region losing streak in the state. Bullock County and St. James have played fifteen times and fourteen times the Trojans have won. The Hornets have never defeated a reigning region champion.
A win Friday night could be considered the biggest win in school history.
The game starts at 7:00 p.m. at Thornton-Foster Stadium on the campus of Bullock County High School. Parking is free and Admission is $7.00.
The game is brought to you by Church's Chicken. Join Coach Spears and his staff at Church's Chicken following the game.
