With humble respect, the Staff of Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mrs. Shirley Elinda Coleman, 67, of Union Springs, Alabama.
Mrs. Coleman, the wife of Johnny L. Coleman passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019, in Montgomery, Alabama. The Homegoing Celebration was held Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the sanctuary of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church of the Aberfoil Community, The pastor, Hawthorne Reed rendered the message of triumph.
Interment followed in the Elizabeth Baptist Cemetery. Mrs. Coleman lay in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Public visitation was held Saturday, November 23, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
Shirley Elinda Coleman was born to her parents T. L. and Ida Mae Peebles on February 3, 1952 in Union Springs, Alabama.
She confessed her life to Christ and joined Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents: T. L. and Ida Mae Peebles; her son, Cephus L. Murry, Jr.; God-daughter, Goldie Carr; one sister, Josephine Baker; three brothers: Willie Ben Peebles, Sr., Johnny Peebles, Sr., and James Earl Peebles; sonin-law, Elbert Ellis; two brothers-in-law: Tommy L. Baker, Sr. and Henry Ford.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Johnnie L. Coleman, Sr.; her children: Kimberly Ellis, Angela (Kenneth) Stewart, Don C. Murry, Linda (Larry) Jones, Salina (Jack) Fields, Dianne Coleman, Falicia Coleman, Johnnie L Coleman, Jr., Ronald Tarver, and Jeffery Murry; her grandchildren: Antjuan (Marikey), Jasmon, Antonio, Cedric, Che’Rad (Robin), Shirlinda (DeMarcus), Victoria, KaSheik, Micheal, Dontavious, Mc’Chea, DeOntae, Quintana, Jermaine, Gigretta, Quinteria (Dramell), Candace Jackson, Nartrisha, Lartrisha; and 26 great-grandchildren; Five brothers: Willie James(Manila), Clarence (Gloria), Johnny Ed (Mable), Millard, and Thomas (Shirley) Peebles; motherin-law, Mrs. Mamie Walker; two sisters: oldest beloved sister, Mary Ford, and her devoted loving sister, Annie Dotson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; two special devoted friends: Bonnie Finch and Susie Washington; three god-daughters: Yvette, Rosaland and Felicia Jacks and one god-son, Rome Nelson.
