With humble respect, the Staff of Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mrs. Betty Jean Walker, 76, of Phenix City, Alabama on August 10, 2019.

The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Walker was held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from the sanctuary of the New Mt. Silla Baptist Church of Comer. The message of triumph was delivered by the pastor, Rev. James Person.

Interment followed in the New Mt. Silla Baptist Cemetery. Mrs.Walker laid in repose at the church from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour. Public visitation was held Friday, August 16, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.

Betty S T E V E N S O N daughter of the late Fred and Sally Stevenson, was born June 27, 1943 in Barbour County, Alabama.

At an early age, Betty joined New Mt. Silla Baptist Church and was a faithful and devoted tither until her health failed. She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters: Lisa (David) Hewitt, Atlanta, GA., Debbie (Curtis) McKinnon, Opelika, AL., and Shelia (the late Hermon) Shorter, Omaha, GA.; grandchildren: Sharonda (Keith) Wilson, Kontissa Walker, and Curtis McKinnon, Jr.; great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Wilson, Adalyn Wilson, Harmonii Walker, Londyn Walker, and Amaya McKinnon; two special cousins: Anna Hillary and Susie Tarver; a special nephew, Tracy Tarver; and other relatives and friends.
