Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Robert James Calhoun, 71, of Clayton, Alabama on August 6, 2019.
Celebration of Life Services were held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from the sanctuary of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church of the Aberfoil Community, Rev. Hawthorne Reed, pastor. The eulogy was rendered by the Rev. Arthur Jones, pastor of the Mt.Cannan Missionary Baptist Church of the Roba Community and Briar Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Mathews, Alabama.
Interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mathews, Alabama. Mr. Calhoun lay in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services. Public visitation was held Friday, August 16, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
Robert James Calhoun, was born in Mathews, Alabama on November 15, 1947 to the late John and Cora Calhoun. He confessed his beliefs in Christ and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He departed this life on August 6, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters. He leaves to cherish his memories: one brother, Mr. Willie James Calhoun, Montgomery, AL.; three sisters: Mrs. Willie Mae McGhee, Frazier Pierson and Ruthie Mae Green, all of Birmingham, AL.; a special friend, Margaret Batts; three step-sons: James Graham, Hattiesburg, MS., Ronnie Graham, Moore, SC., and Russell Graham, Atlanta, GA.; one step-daughter, Erica Penn, Clayton, AL.; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
